St. Edmund’s Health Centre

The role of the School Health Centre is to oversee the health and welfare of the children at St Edmund’s School from Nursery to Form 11, helping pupils to participate as fully as possible in school life.

The Health Centre is a cosy, purpose-built unit with one treatment room with an en-suite and bed and a counselling/quiet room for students (and staff) to have some quiet time if they need it.

The Health Centre is staffed by three nurses, Sophie Moxey (RGN) Jules Johnston (RGN) and Sheron Elston. Visit our Meet the team page to find out more!

The School Nurses are in the Health Centre 8.00am-6.00pm, Monday to Friday. We operate an ‘open door’ policy which ensures children and staff have access to care at all times during the school day. We are always present at school matches and many of the after-school activities including Great Escape nights!

The Health Centre provides support, training, and health education around long term conditions such as diabetes.

The school provides a counselling service for children and the referrals are received through the Health Centre. The Health Centre staff are also trained in Safeguarding and play a key role within the Pastoral team.

In the event of an emergency, staff will make every reasonable effort to contact parents or legal guardians before permitting treatment to proceed, as advised by the medical authorities present.

If your child has a significant illness or injury when at home, please inform the Health Centre so we can keep up-to-date with your child’s health needs to ensure the best care.
